Shelter forest protects desert highway from intrusion of sand in Xinjiang

    Photo taken on July 9, 2017 shows an oasis near Tarim Desert Highway in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. A 436-km long and over-70-meter wide "green wall", formed by some 20 million trees, was completed in 2005, to protect the desert highway from the intrusion of sand. (Xinhua/Shen Hong)
