ver the last 50 years, the University has received attention and support from the Chinese Communist Party, and from a host of other provincial and urban leaders from across inner China. After the selfless dedication and continued improvement of several generations, 50,000 skilled people in medicine have been educated. They have devoted themselves to work in the north and south of Xinjiang and other provinces in China, as well as abroad. Most of them have become key leaders in the medical and health fields. They have made great efforts towards the development of medicine and health issues in Xinjiang, as well as improving the health of the people. They have devoted a lot energy and time into strengthening the unity of people from different ethnic groups and the development of the society as a whole.

After 50 years of development, XMU has achieved substantial achievements in the fields of health education, clinical treatment and research. Presently, XMU has 18 colleges, 5 affiliated (teaching) hospitals with 2 sections and 5 departments, 3 post-doctorate stations, 4 doctorate stations, 48 masters’ degree stations of secondary subjects, 5 autonomous region special subjects, 1 provincial level joint Laboratory, 2 autonomous region key laboratories, 8 autonomous region level research institutes and research offices. XMU is accredited to give Medical Doctor (MD) degrees.

XMU’s staff, teachers, and doctors have strong abilities and experience in teaching, curing and researching. The teaching faculty is comprised of 1500 people (with over 1000 of them being at least associate professor status). There are more than 400 supervisors for the doctorate students and the master’s students. Among these supervisors, most of the teachers have continued their studies in Europe and America, and have an increased ability to teach professional subjects to international students in English.
