(Tianshannet) Updated: 2015-March-19 18:34:29

Xu Shufen, 62, has been a volunteer barber for the elderly in Baijiantan district in Karamay in the northern part of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region for five years.

In 2010, Xu visited Baijiantan district and found that some elderly residents had mobility problems. She told the chief of the district's elderly service center that she was willing to help for free.

Xu comes to the service center three times a month to help the elderly cut their hair. For those who have difficulty going out, she will provide them with in-house service.

When talking about her volunteer work, Xu feels full of happiness. "It's my pleasure to contribute to a better life for senior citizens," she said.
