SKOPJE, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Macedonia supports China-proposed Belt and Road initiative to contribute to peace, prosperity, openness, innovation, and links between the civilizations, Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov said Friday in Macedonia's southeastern city of Ohrid.

　　Ivanov made the remarks while addressing an international conference on the Belt and Road initiative which are attended by professors from China and Central and East Europe countries on Oct. 6-7.

　　In his opening remarks, Ivanov noted that the initiative was deemed very important, particularly for Macedonia.

　　The Belt and Road initiative "offers opportunities to fund major infrastructural projects in the region helping its economic development," Ivanov said.

　　He also mentioned several fields where Macedonia offers investment opportunities.

　　Several professors present at the conference also highlighted Macedonia's fields where the initiative could serve to boost investments.
