Guangdong suffers 1st loss, Shanghai sinks Xinjiang

  BEIJING, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- CBA former champion Guangdong and defending champion Xinjiang both lost to their opponents in the seventh round of CBA games on Sunday.

  Facing Guangsha, Guangdong's veteran Yi Jianlian only pocketed 14 points. At the end of the first half, Guangsha managed to get a 59-40 lead to force game into garbage time early.

  Although Guangdong tried to trim the gap in the final quarter, Guangsha did a better job on the free-throw line, closing the game with 115-88.

  After seven rounds of the CBA league, Guangdong suffered its first loss and Guangsha became the new leader.

  Meanwhile the defending champion Xinjiang also had a surprising defeat. Darius Adams of Xinjiang had a game-high 46 points, but Jimmer Fredette and Nick Minnerath combined for 77 points, leading Shanghai to a 110-104 win.

  The Iranian central Hamed Haddadi produced a double-double, scoring 25 points with 17 rebounds to help Sichuan take its first win of the season after a 113-100 victory over Bayi. Meng Da added team-high 27 points.

  In Sunday's other games, Guangzhou fell to Jiangsu 113-115. Shenzhen humiliated Tongxi 129-98, Liaoning beat Shandong 97-95, Aolong defeated Beijing 113-105, Fujian smashed Shanxi 129-111.
