A new and convenient method for recharging bus cards has been launched in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
An app called "Hongshantong" has been developed using Android software, according to Lu Xiaoxu, a manager with Urumqi Hongshan Card Company.
Three recharge machines for Urumqi bus IC cards have been installed in Urumqi.
When a user opens the app and registers for the service, they are able to recharge their bus card by typing in its number.
Once this has been done the funds can be transferred to the card by taking it to one of the recharge machines, where the money is topped up with a single swipe of the card.
If the card is not swiped within 48 hours of the recharge being purchased, the money will be returned to the user.
In the future, there are plans for more than 200 recharge machines and people will be able to recharge their bus cards all over the city.
