Thanks to animal husbandry and plantation, local villagers' annual per capita income rises to 9,000 yuan (1,423 U.S. dollars), a giant leap as compared to a mere 600 yuan (94.9 U.S.dollars) of 20 years ago. In 2016, Yang started to take charge of poverty alleviation work as the deputy chief of Da'an Township. He wants to develop eco-agriculture, rural tourism and e-commerce platforms to help local people increase incomes. Yang believes people are the key element for development.
