First special tourist train from Jilin to Xinjiang departs

  A train carrying about 800 tourists from Changchun, Jilin province in Northeast China was boarded by passengers bound for Northwestern China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region at Changchun North Railway Station on June 19.

  The train will start a 16-day tour highlighting the landscape in Western China, and will stop at several tourist destinations such as Turpan, Urumqi, Tianchi Scenic region at Tianshan Mountain, Da Bazar, Hami and Kanas in Xinjiang and Mogao Grottoes, Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring in Gansu province as well as Ningxia’s Shapotou scenic zone.

  Equipped with tourist guides and leaders, passengers on board will enjoy concierge-like service and all kinds of entertainment activities during the journey. According to local media, Jilin plans to run another tourist train on June 23 this year.

  The ticket price for adults ranges from 3,380 yuan ($523) to 4,980 yuan while children under 1.2 m are charged 1,400 yuan. The special tourist trains are a part of the Jilin Provincial Government’s efforts to boost tourism and economy activity in Xinjiang.
