Trans-Pacific cooperation helps cement Alpha's competitiveness in Chinese, U.S. markets

NEW YORK, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Accumulated domestic manufacturing experiences in China and advanced design ideas in the United States have jointly cemented Alpha's competitiveness in both markets, said an official from China-based toy design and animation company Alpha Group.

With over two decades' development, Alpha Group has become one of the leading animation and toy companies in China, said Glenn Yu, the group's U.S. subsidiary's design director.

The establishment of Alpha Group US in 2016 is part of its efforts to develop the U.S. market.

"We have excellent operating and engineering teams with deep knowledge and experiences in China, and we combine these with new ideas of marketing and design to exploit both markets," Yu told Xinhua at the 2019 North American International Toy Fair held in New York City.

With the solid support of business planning, personnel training, supply chain, in addition to manufacturing, Alpha's entry into the U.S. market has been relatively smooth.

The cooperation between teams in the two countries has been fruitful. "Although we've been doing business in the U.S. market only for two to three years, our operating revenue keeps growing ... thanks to supports from China and experiences of the U.S. division," he said.

The competition in global toy market is fierce, but Yu believes it is good for China's toy industry.

By bringing overseas toys and relevant concepts to the Chinese market, "we help drive domestic consumer market and expand consumers' knowledge, whose higher demand and requirement will spur Chinese toy producers to improve product quality and raise awareness of intellectual property right protection," said Yu.

"Such competition could be healthy," Yu added.
