FutureChina Global Forum 2019 focuses on sustainable development

SINGAPORE, June 7 (Xinhua) -- FutureChina Global Forum 2019, an annual flagship event organized by the Business China Singapore, was held here on Friday, with a theme of Sustainable Development in a Dynamic World Order.

The forum offers top private and public sector leaders a premier platform to exchange insights, engage in high-level networking and to generate a pipeline of collaborative opportunities, according to the organizer.

It said that the forum, in its 10th edition, seeks to provide an international platform for the sharing of analyses and experiences about the new trends and forces surrounding China's evolution to become one of the world's largest economies.

Speaking at the forum's opening session, Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Heng Swee Keat shared three ways for the world to build a sustainable future, one that leads to growth and development across all countries around the world, while ensuring that the planet is protected.

He said that these ways are forming and deepening international collaborations and partnerships to tackle sustainable development challenges; enabling all segments of the society, including governments, businesses, and individuals, to work together to achieve sustainable development; and developing next-generation talents and leaders to build a more sustainable and brighter future for societies.

He also applauded China's efforts towards achieving sustainable development, including the World Environment Day held by China and the United Nations in Hangzhou, the launch of the Belt and Road Initiative International Green Development Coalition, and the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, which presents new opportunities in diverse areas that businesses can tap on.

The Business China Awards and Closing Gala Dinner 2019, another flagship event initiated by Business China, was also held on Friday. Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who is Business China's Patron, presented the Business China Awards and hold a fireside chat at the event.
