Chinese TV series, documentaries to be aired in Myanmar with local voice dubbing

  YANGON, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese historical TV series and documentaries will start airing on Myanmar with local voice dubbing or subtitles.

  Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein expressed his belief at the launching ceremony on Saturday that airing such TV series and documentaries could bring people of Myanmar and China closer together.

  Dubbed or subbed with Myanmar language, 10 Chinese TV series which include well-known “Journey to the West”, “Romance of the Three Kingdoms”, “The Hexi Corridor”, and documentaries are to be broadcasted on SkyNet World Drama Channel, Knowledge Channel, Asia Movie Channel and Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV).

  Cultural exchange and cooperation between China and Myanmar play vital role in bilateral relations of the two countries, said Chinese Ambassador in Myanmar Chen Hai, pledging that China will continue engaging with Myanmar to implement more bilateral cultural exchange.

  Speaking on behalf of Information Minister U Pe Myint, U Ye Naing, director-general of Information and Public Relations Department under the ministry, said that the series will help Myanmar people learn Chinese culture and it will promote bilateral friendship between the two countries.

  The program of airing Chinese TV series and documentaries is jointly organized by the Chinese embassy in Myanmar, China Radio International, Sky Net and China’s Yunnan Dehong TV.

  “These TV series are what I grew up with and it will be more convenient for the local audiences with Myanmar language dubbings and subtitles,” Patricia, an attendee of the launching ceremony, told Xinhua.

  Htike Lwin Ko, an audience from Mandalay, told Xinhua that the bilateral cultural exchange will be more effective if the two countries could work together in filming stories about Myanmar and introduce Myanmar culture to Chinese people.
