Malaysia holds friendship run to mark 45th anniversary of China-Malaysia ties

  KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- More than 3,000 runners participated in a friendship run in Kota Kinabalu of Malaysia's Sabah state on Sunday to mark to 45th anniversary of bilateral ties between Malaysia and China.

  The run, organized by Ma-Zhong Friendship Association Sabah and Consulate General of China in Kota Kinabalu, started from early morning, drawing participants from local communities as well as Chinese students studying in Sabah and staff of Chinese companies.

  Chinese Consul-General Liang Caide said the participation of the event had far exceeded expectations, which demonstrated the overwhelming support by the local communities toward the friendship between China and Malaysia.

  Oh Ei Sun, president of Ma-Zhong Friendship Association Sabah, said the run was hosted to provide locals with an outdoor activity that was beneficial to the mind and body.

  "We also hope that through this activity, we can do our part for the friendship between Malaysia and China," Oh said.

  Oh said his organization will continue to carry out various programs and activities that benefit bilateral development and enable the people of Sabah to connect with China's development, especially to create a win-win situation in various fields under the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative.
