CBA Roundup: Beijing Royal Fighters upset Guangdong, Shandong beat Xinjiang

  BEIJING, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- Two games beyond everyone's expectation on Sunday night in the 17th round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) on Sunday.

  Beijing Royal Fighters rallied to upset defending champions Guangdong Southeast Tigers 126-111 to snap Guangdong's 12-game winning streak, while Shandong Heroes defeated Xinjiang Flying Tigers 116-107

  Guangdong achieved a 14-1 win-loss record into the season before Sunday. Beijing Royal Fighters held a 68-61 advantage into the halftime and opened the second half with a 7-2 and a 14-2 run to open up an insurmountable 18 points lead. Guangdong improved their defense and made a 7-0 run at the beginning of the final quarter, but Sun Yue had a key three-pointer to wrap up the game.

  Kyle Fogg had a game-high 38 points, six rebounds and eight assists for Royal Fighters, who won their third straight game. Jason Thompson contributed a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Wang Zirui added 16 points. Sonny Weems scored 28 points and eight rebounds for Guangdong.

  Lester Hudson had 39 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, finishing 12-of-23 from the field, including 8-of-14 from three-point range, to pocket a victory for Shandong, the first time in history to beat Xinjiang away.

  In Sunday's other games, Jiangsu Dragons beat Tianjin Pioneers 114-113 with Jonathan Gibson scoring 46 points, while Fujian Sturgeons routed Shenzhen Aviators 114-77. Sichuan Blue Whale edged Bayi Rockets 92-81, Qingdao Eagles beat Shanxi Loongs 105-96.
