The construction of the hydro dam of the Aratax water conservation project completed

  Tianshannet news (Reporter Cao Hua, Correspondent Li Jianfeng, Xing Renxia): On June 2, the reporter learned from the authority that the construction of the hydro dam of the Aratax water conservation project, one of the national major hydraulic projects for water conservancy and the largest of its kind in Xinjiang with a total investment of 10.986 billion RMB yuan, was recently completed. The Aratax project will play a comprehensive role in flood control, irrigation and ecological protection.

  The Aratax water conservation project is located at the border of Shache County of Kashgar Prefecture and Akto County of Kizilsu Kirghiz Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and is a major water conservancy project at the lower reaches of the Yarkant River, also knows as the “Three Gorges Project in Xinjiang”.
