China's Xinjiang has 481 km of eight-lane expressways

The total length of eight-lane expressways in Xinjiang, China has reached 481 km after three expressways have been expanded since last year. The three expressways are vital roads linking Xinjiang to other regions in the country. They are in use for more than 20 years. They are expanded to eight-lane expressways with fours lanes in each direction to meet the transport demand. The road upgrading started in 2016 with an investment of over 30 billion yuan (4.5 billion USD).
