Xinjiang Daily news (Reporter Shi Xin): On November 18, 2020, the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the People's Government of Urumqi and the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Institute (hereinafter referred to as the CAREC Institute) signed a memorandum on host city.
The Deputy Minister of Finance Zou Jiayi and the Director of the CAREC Institute Syed Shakeel Shah made speeches via video. Wan Haichuan, the Director of the Department of Finance of XUAR, delivered a speech on behalf of the People's Government of XUAR.
Zou Jiayi pointed out that as a staged achievement of Central Asia regional economic cooperation, the CAREC Institute should continue to focus on the “2030 Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Strategy” and the specific requirements of member states to serve regional economic cooperation, make a knowledge-sharing platform for regional economic cooperation in Central Asia and contribute to the joint construction of the “Belt and Road”.
Syed Shakeel Shah stated that the CAREC Institute is committed to becoming a first-class regional think tank, aims to actively catalyze knowledge sharing by providing knowledge products and think tank exchanges for strategic integration of the Central Asian regional economic cooperation mechanism and the “Belt and Road” initiative.
Wan Haichuan said that the signing of the memorandum is a new starting point for further deepening cooperation between Xinjiang and the CAREC Institute, marking a new stage of mutual cooperation. Xinjiang will provide all-round support for the CAREC Institute and promote the Central Asia regional economic cooperation to a new height.
