BEIJING, March 12 (Xinhua) -- The governments of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Jilin Province signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement Friday to jointly create an ice-and-snow high-quality development zone, in a bid to promote industry upgrading and agglomeration.
Both Xinjiang in northwest China and Jilin in the northeast boast world-class ice-and-snow resources, particularly in the former's Altai Mountains and the latter's Changbai Mountains.
According to the agreement, which was signed in Beijing, Xinjiang and Jilin will carry out in-depth cooperation on ice-and-snow tourism, sports, culture, trade and marketing.
Jilin will train personnel and provide guidance on the intelligent construction of Xinjiang's ice-and-snow scenic spots and ski resorts, while Xinjiang will provide ice-and-snow training centers according to Jilin's needs.
The two sides will establish mechanisms for coordination and high-level consultation, and jointly work out a master plan for the construction of the development zone.
