Toksun, Xinjiang: apricots are fragrant and sell well

On May 17, 2021, merchants from across China came to purchase apricots at Nanhu Village in Xia Town in Toksun County of Turpan City, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, which is known for “hometown of early-ripening apricots in China”.

Toksun County is very suitable for large-scale planting, commercialization and cultural and tourism development relating to early-ripening apricots due to its unique natural resources and geographical location. Every year in mid-March, spring comes to Toksun County, beautiful apricot blossoms attract large number of tourists. At the beginning of May, apricots gradually become ripe, merchants come one after another.

At present, Toksun County has more than 100,000 mu of apricot trees, the fruit area is 60,000 mu, including 13 varieties such as Suletan, Xiaobaixing, Fengyuanhong, Katy and Golden Sun. In 2020, the output value of apricots in Toksun County reached 160 million yuan.
