Photo taken on May 13, 2022 shows members of Brothers alkaline-soil tonur production cooperative check the quality of tonur(nang pit) at Quxurgai Village in Gedaliang Township, Artux City, northwest China’s Xinjiang. In recent years, Quxurgai Village has implemented saline-alkali land improvement, and established a cooperative to make alkaline-soil tonur, using local materials to turn saline-alkali soil into treasure and offer employment to villagers. Today, tonur production has become a local specialty industry, and the barren saline-alkali soil has become the "golden land" for villagers to increase their income. Photo by Zhao Jin
