Sweet white apricots are ripe in Luntai County, China’s Xinjiang

On June 3, 2022, the third White Apricots Cultural Festival was held in Kuduke Village of Yangxia Town in Luntai County, Bayingolin Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China’s Xinjiang. "It's delicious, so delicious. Luntai white apricots really live up to their reputation." Wang Haibo, a tourist from Korla City, said excitedly while eating the white apricots. “Today, I ate white apricots I picked myself at the apricot garden, it is really good.”

In the food tasting area, in addition to lamb kebab, grilled fish, and Xinjiang noodles and other traditional specialties, apricot pilaf made of white apricots, apricot cold noodle, apricot honey, apricot sheep hoof with pepper, apricot noodles, apricot samsa, apricot naan, apricot barbecue and other delicacies are more popular among tourists.

Mamat Asan, a villager in Kuduk Village who runs a farmhouse, said while busy greeting guests: "Today, my wife and I got up at 7 am to work and sold two pots of apricot pilaf in 4 hours. The income is definitely good.”

“The longest sunlight exposure time, the purest snow water in Tianshan Mountains, and the largest temperature difference between day and night have achieved the best quality and sweet taste of Luntai white apricots. Have you ever eaten white apricots with a sugar content of 25 degrees..."

Liu Guoqiang, secretary of the Luntai County Party Committee, said that Luntai County has conducted in-depth exploration and comprehensive display of Luntai white apricot culture by holding apricot flower festival, white apricot picking festival, white apricot culture festival and other activities. It has won the name cards as the famous historical and cultural city, new petroleum and petrochemical city, and ecological and livable apricot city, contributing to the promotion of rural revitalization and the increasing of farmers' income. In 2022, the total output of white apricot is expected to reach 15,500 tons, with 1.7 million tourists and 830 million yuan of tourism revenue.
