RIO DE JANEIRO, March 8 (Xinhua) -- The Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro will host this year's Copa Libertadores final, the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) said on Wednesday.
The deciding match of South America's most important club tournament will be played on November 11.
In a social media post, CONMEBOL president Alejandro Dominguez said the announcement followed a meeting of the entity's executive committee.
The Maracana was also the stage for the 2020 Copa Libertadores final between Palmeiras and Santos, which was played in January 2021 in front of less than 10,000 spectators because of COVID-19 restrictions.
CONMEBOL said this year's Copa Sudamericana final would be played in Uruguayan capital Montevideo on October 28.
