Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Chen Jianglin) news: Recently, in the orchard of Xinjiang Zhangshengguo Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. located in Kuqa City, Aksu Prefecture, northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, workers are busy in the orchard with pruning tools. Under the careful guidance of technicians, 30-year-old Kurban Litfu is seen fully focused on pruning an apple tree.
Kurban lives in Paiziawat Village, Yuqiwusitang Township, Kuqa City, with his five family members. In earlier years, his family relied solely on planting 0.26 hectares of land for livehood. In 2018, he joined this company as a worker, earning a stable monthly income of 4,000 yuan (about 557 U.S. dollars).
“I love this job! It's close to my home and I can learn many skills. Look at the car parked over there, it's the one I bought two years ago," Kurban said excitedly. “Originally, this was a vast area where there were strong winds and sandstorms for most of the year. Now, the environment has improved and our lives are better.”

Kuqa City is located on the edge of the Taklimakan Desert. In 2011, with the pairing assistance programs, Xinjiang Zhangshengguo Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. settled here. After years of hard work and cultivation, the barren desert has been transformed into an orchard.
Xinjiang Zhangshengguo Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. widely promotes mechanized drip irrigation technology. Kurban and over 30 staff members managed 250.6 hectares of land in an orderly manner through mechanized means. Along with the construction of windbreaks, the company also continuously planted economic forests, creating a large number of job opportunities.
At present, the company has planted windbreaks composed of about 350,000 populus cathayana and elaeagnus angustifolia, as well as nearly 200 hectares of economic forests. plums, grapes, apples, walnuts, small white apricots, pears, and other fruits are already ripe.
Our fruits are mainly sold to cities such as China’s Shanghai, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, and Beijing, as well as surrounding cities," said An Cunzheng, general manager of Xinjiang Zhangshengguo Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. "During the high-yield period, our company's fruit sales are expected to reach six to seven million yuan (about 835 to 974 million U.S. dollars).
It is reported that Xinjiang Zhangshengguo Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. has also cooperated with universities and research institutes such as Ningbo Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Northwest A&F University to introduce new fruit varieties such as melons and pumpkins and create demonstration bases.
