Annual passenger throughput of Xinjiang Airport Group exceeds 40 million people, 65 days earlier than last year

Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Ma Yining) news: As of October 22, 2024, the Xinjiang Airport Group has served over 40 million passengers this year, reaching this milestone 65 days earlier than last year. They transported 40.125 million passengers, completed 233,000 tons of cargo and postal throughput, and facilitated 457,000 flights, representing increases of 18.1 percent, 45.0 percent, and 11.3 percent, respectively.

Since the beginning of this year, civil aviation transportion in Xinjiang has been consistently strengthened. On October 11, 2024, Yining International Airport in Ili Kazak Autonomous Prefecture recorded an annual passenger throughput of over two million for the first time, while Xuedu Airport in Altay Prefecture, surpassed 600,000 passengers for the first time. Then, on October 13, Turpan Jiaohe Airport also served over 500,000 passengers for the first time. These airports have repeatedly set new records in total transport production.

Among the airports in Xinjiang managed by the Xinjiang Airport Group, 17 airports—including those in Turpan, Kashi, Yarkant, Yutian, Tumushuke, Kuqa, Yining, Nalati, Bole, Altay, Tacheng, Fuyun, Hami, Karmay, Taxkorgan, Zhaosu, and Alar—have reported passenger throughput that exceeds last year's total. This is aside from the newly operational airports in Qitai and Bayanbulak, which opened in August this year. Notably, Turpan Jiaohe Airport has seen its passenger throughput double compared to last year, while Zhaosu Tianma Airport's throughput has quadrupled.

To support transportation and production during the winter and spring seasons, the Xinjiang Airport Group will collaborate with airlines to launch new routes. Starting October 27, these routes will include Altay-Chongqing, Altay-Xi'an, and Fuyun-Yining-Kashi, as well as Turpan-Aksu-Yarkant. This initiative aims to further enhance the high-quality development of ice and snow sports and tourism in Xinjiang.
