Flocks of mallards winter at the Ebinur Lake Wetland National Nature Reserve in NW China’s Xinjiang

With the arrival of winter, the Ebinur Lake Wetland National Nature Reserve in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, has welcomed tens of thousands of migratory birds for overwintering. On November 26, 2024, flocks of mallards were observed by ecological volunteers at the reserve. They can be seen either soaring high in the sky or foraging on the surface of the water, presenting a scene full of vitality.

The Ebinur Lake Wetland National Nature Reserve has become a winter paradise for migratory birds, thanks to its unique geographical advantages and abundant ecological resources. It is understood that in recent years, with the continuous improvement of the ecological environment, more and more birds have inhabited the Ebinur Lake Wetland, and the number of bird species has increased from over 100 to over 200.
