"Jingzhe" or "Awakening of Insects" is the third of 24 solar terms. In Chinese folklore, the year's first thunder, called "Spring Thunder," is believed to wake the insects. It signals a rise in temperature and increased rainfall. It is important time for spring agricultural activities.
