Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Ma Bei) news: President of Ulsan MBC, who visited northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region for the first time, said that the grandeur of Urumqi Tianshan International Airport struck them the moment they stepped off the plane, giving them a strong sense of the vibrant development in Xinjiang.
From June 9 to 14, 2025, the delegation of mainstream media from South Korea visited various places in Xinjiang, including Urumqi, Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, and Aksu Prefecture. They explored museums, tourist attractions, bazaars, and enterprises to gain a firsthand understanding of Xinjiang's history, culture, social stability, economic development, cultural prosperity, ethnic unity, religious harmony, and the happy lives of its people.

On June 10, they visited the Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar. The diverse and colorful local products and authentic Xinjiang cuisine there gave them a strong sense of the region's economic vitality and rich cultural diversity. They noted that the bazaar is not just a commercial hub but also an important window for showcasing the cultural integration of Xinjiang's various ethnic groups.
At the Xinjiang Museum, the delegation was fascinated by the rich collection of cultural relics and historical materials that vividly depicted the long history and brilliant culture of Xinjiang, as well as the achievements of the various ethnic groups living together on this land. During the visit, they frequently stopped to observe the exhibits closely, listened to the tour guides' explanations, and engaged in discussions.
During their trip, president of Busan MBC was excited to discover that Xinjiang's abundant food, culture, natural scenery, and renewable energy resources provide excellent material for documentary and variety show production. The pristine beauty of Tianshan Tianchi evoked comparisons to Canada's renowned lake destinations. He believed that as cooperation in airport construction and air routes between the two regions progresses, and cultural exchanges deepen, more Koreans will come to know about the unique charm of China's Xinjiang, and the exchanges between the two sides will reach new heights.

After arriving in Aksu Prefecture, the delegation visited Kuqa City, Baicheng County, and Xinhe County. They explored the local textile industry, new energy sector, protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage, and the integration of culture and tourism, experiencing the vibrant cultural diversity and economic development of Aksu.
At Kuqa Lihua Textile Co., Ltd., the delegation learned about the development of Xinjiang's cotton textile industry. President of Andong MBC, said that seeing the state-of-the-art production equipment and cotton spinning lines there made him feel the efforts made by the local governments in Xinjiang to improve people's lives. He added that he believed these efforts would yield even greater results in the future.
The delegation was also amazed by the exquisite murals in the Kizil Caves and the unique geological landscape of the Kizil Red Stone Forest in Baicheng County. The traditional musical instrument making and folk cultural performances in Jiayi Village, Xinhe County, left a deep impression on them.
President of Ulsan MBC said he was struck by the incredible craftsmanship of nature when he entered the Kizil Red Stone Forest in Baicheng County. He mentioned that he took many photos and shared them with his family, adding that he would definitely bring them to visit in the future. He also said that the rich historical heritage and diverse ethnic cultures he experienced while visiting local museums and engaging with folk customs further fueled his desire to explore. Given both Xinjiang’s natural wonders and cultural depth, he expressed his belief that its tourism resources are comparable to world-famous destinations, and that Xinjiang has the potential to become an international tourist hotspot.
He also said that the charm of Xinjiang deserves to be seen by more people. As a documentary producer with 25 years of experience and having visited over 70 countries, he plans to use the media to show the natural scenery, history, culture, and modern development of Xinjiang to the Korean public, allowing more Koreans to understand the true face of this land. He firmly believes that as exchanges between the two regions deepen, Xinjiang will move from being a niche choice for Korean tourists to a must-visit destination, becoming a new highlight of cultural and tourism exchanges.
President of Gyeongnam MBC, said that he had known before that Xinjiang was the core area of the ancient Silk Road, but it was only through this visit to places like Urumqi and Kuqa that he was finally able to see it with his own eyes. He expressed his amazement, saying that only by witnessing the integration of the ancient city ruins and modern life in Kuqa did he truly understand why the Silk Road is a corridor where civilizations meet.
During the six-day trip, the delegation members felt the friendship of the people in Xinjiang. President of Gyeongnam MBC said that from the streets of Urumqi to the bazaars and alleyways, every interaction was filled with warmth. He added that the multiculturalism and developmental vitality of the region deserve to be seen by more people. He said that upon returning to South Korea, he would be committed to promoting cultural and people-to-people exchanges between China and South Korea, so that more Koreans can understand the true Xinjiang.
