Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Wang Na) news: On June 17, 2025, at the passenger inspection hall of Baktu Port, border inspection officers greeted waiting passengers and carried out their duties of checking documents in an orderly manner. Under the national gate at Baktu Port in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, commercial vehicles, heavy trucks laden with goods, and self-driving vehicles for cross-border tourism were constantly coming and going.

During the recently-held Second China-Central Asia Summit, China and the five Central Asian countries reached a series of cooperative consensuses. Strengthening economic and trade cooperation and facilitating personnel exchanges were among the outcomes.

As the most convenient land-border crossing between China and Kazakhstan, Baktu Port has seen a sharp increase in the number of people entering and leaving the country. According to statistics from the Baktu Border Inspection Station, as of June 16, the port has inspected a total of more than 31 thousand people entering and leaving the country this year, a year-on-year increase of 183.18 percent. Meanwhile, more than 33 thousand vehicles have entered and left the country, a year-on-year increase of 17.51 percent.

Since the inaugural China-Central Asia Summit, the joint construction of the Belt and Road between China and Central Asian countries has been deepened. With the continuous advancement of regional economic cooperation and the continuous impact of a series of favorable policies for entry and exit, such as mutual visa-free policies, the number of people and cross-border transportation at Baktu Port has shown a strong growth trend.

Zhao Peng, the instructor of the 3rd duty team of the Baktu Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station, said that recently, with the arrival of the peak tourist season and the peak trade season, cross-border tourism, business exchanges, and cargo transportation have become more frequent. "We are constantly innovating service and guarantee measures to improve the efficiency of customs clearance," he said.

To optimize the customs clearance process, Baktu Border Inspection Station has implemented a "12-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week" clearance mechanism, extending to 24 hours during peak times. It has also introduced convenient measures such as "appointment-based clearance" and "inspection upon arrival," achieving a full-chain, one-stop service for customs clearance links such as declaration and inspection. The clearance time for a single truck has been reduced from the original one hour to 25 minutes, and further compressed to 20 minutes during peak times.

With the arrival of summer, fruits and vegetables have entered their peak season for production and sales. At Baktu Port, trucks loaded with fresh produce are lined up, ready to head to countries like Kazakhstan and Russia. To address the issue of perishable goods in the summer heat, Baktu Border Inspection Station has opened a "green channel." Officers work diligently to ensure that vehicles transporting fresh produce can all exit the country on the same day.

To meet the special needs of transporting large-scale cargo such as wind power equipment and engineering vehicles, Baktu Border Inspection Station has opened a "green channel for large-scale equipment." For oversized, large-scale cargo, inspection plans are planned in advance to ensure the efficient and rapid customs clearance of the cargo.

Liu Junyi, manager of a trading company in Tacheng City, said that thanks to various convenient measures, goods can be loaded and set off smoothly and can reach their destinations in Kazakhstan in the afternoon of the same day. Chinese fruits and vegetables are now reaching the tables of people in neighboring countries with better quality and faster speed, and the company's overseas orders are also increasing.

Zhao Peng said that the Baktu Border Inspection Station uses technology to build a big data center, monitor entry and exit volumes and port operations, and release passenger flow information to help travelers plan their trips. It also provides reminders, adjusts duty deployment dynamically, opens all inspection channels, and collaborates closely with relevant units and departments to ensure smooth passenger flow and comprehensive traffic support during peak times, maximizing convenience for customs clearance.
