Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Yu Xi) news: From July 20 to 25, 2025, a 13-member South Korean youth delegation visited northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. They traveled to Urumqi and Aksu Prefecture, visiting universities, enterprises, and tourist attractions. The delegation was impressed by the social stability, economic development, cultural progress, ethnic unity, and religious harmony they witnessed.

Members of the South Korean youth delegation expressed their amazement at how open, prosperous, and beautiful Xinjiang was, noting that seeing it with their own eyes was far more impactful than just hearing about it. They concluded their visit on July 25.

They agreed that Xinjiang is an ideal place to experience multiculturalism and harmonious coexistence among different ethnic groups and wanted to promote cultural exchanges between China and South Korea and to share the real stories of Xinjiang with more people back home.

On July 21, the delegation visited the biological specimen museum at Xinjiang Normal University, which was established in 1985 and houses over 30,000 specimens. They viewed exhibits featuring plants, arthropods, birds, mammals, fish, amphibians, reptiles, and the unique Xinjiang salamander ecosystem. The delegation marveled at Xinjiang's rich and diverse biological resources, including protected species like the wild yak, Xinjiang salamander, Apollo butterfly, and Cistanche deserticola.

The delegation also toured Xinjiang Normal University's School of Education Science, exploring its digital teaching resources and AI labs. They also joined a joint activity with Chinese students to paint traditional Chinese opera masks. The delegation leader, Hwang Tae-kyung, praised the university's distinctive educational approach and expressed hope for more future interactions.

At the Xinjiang Museum, the delegation was drawn to ancient artifacts. These relics tell the story of Xinjiang's long and rich history, proving that Xinjiang has always been an inseparable part of China. One delegate also remarked that the archaeological findings in Xinjiang are abundant and convincing.

The Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar left the delegation in awe with its distinctive architecture, folk customs, delicious food, and ethnic dances and songs. They captured the vibrant atmosphere of the bazaar with their cameras, impressed by the bustling commerce and the harmonious coexistence of different ethnic groups. They commented that doing business in the bazaar must be very fulfilling, that Urumqi is an inclusive city, and that the society here is harmonious and united.

On July 22, the delegation visited Leon Technology Co., Ltd., a high-tech company specializing in information and communication technology. They learned that the company, driven by the 5G wave, has expanded its business into multiple fields, including security, communication, cloud computing, and big data. Its operations are rooted in Xinjiang, expanding nationwide and even globally. The delegates were impressed and gave the company a thumbs-up.

On the same day, the delegation visited the Urumqi Urban Operations Management Center, observing its platform operations and learning about its structure and development plans. They were impressed by how the center, a vital part of smart city development, improves urban management, governance, and public services. A member of the delegation noted that the center’s comprehensive functions make the city smarter and life more convenient.

During their six-day visit, the delegation also visited the Xinjiang Ancient Ecological Park, the Tianshan Tomur Grand Canyon, the Kizil Caves, and the Kuqa Palace. They experienced firsthand the rapid development and harmonious progress of different ethnic groups in Xinjiang.

The delegation leader concluded that Xinjiang's future is limitless. He said they would share their experiences and observations with more people to let them know that Xinjiang is truly a wonderful place.
