InXinjiang (67)丨US Dancers Take the Stage in NW China's Xinjiang

In August 2025, the Limón Dance Company journeyed to northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region for the first time, joining the 7th China Xinjiang International Dance Festival. Their performance at the festival was a hit. The dancers' skill and passion brought modern dance's unique charm to life, winning the audience's hearts and plenty of applause. The company, founded by José Limón in 1946, is a big name in American modern dance. It has always been centered on "strength, grace, and humanity." Its works cleverly blend the rigorous techniques of classical ballet with the free expression of modern dance, earning it a high reputation in the international dance community.

During their stay in Xinjiang, dancers of the company had in-depth exchanges with local dancers. They experienced the warm hospitality and rich cultural diversity of Xinjiang, making this trip truly extraordinary. The dancers also expressed their desire to use dance to promote cultural exchange and their hope to visit Xinjiang in the future to foster artistic interactions between the United States and China.
