From the 25 to the 29, 2025, an Uzbek think-tank delegation traveled across Xinjiang, spending five days exploring technology parks, modern businesses, and research facilities in Urumqi, Kashi, and other locations. Their visit offered them a close look at the region's rapid economic growth and the vibrant energy of the core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt.

During a stop at Xinjiang Software Park in Urumqi on August 25, the delegation was particularly intrigued by an AI news reporter, developed by iFlytek's "Zhizuo" system, capable of delivering reports in multiple languages. Upon learning that the software supported 60 languages, Sanjar Valiev, Director of the Institute of Foreign Policy Studies and Initiatives under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, asked whether their language could also be included. When assured that it was possible, he smiled and expressed his strong interest in purchasing such a machine.

The delegation was fascinated by various AI applications at the Xinjiang Software Park, including the Transportation Big Data Platform, smart city management systems, Beidou-based precision farming technologies, and intelligent water solutions.

Sanjar Valiev suggested that it would be beneficial for China's IT industrial parks to establish connections with their counterparts in Uzbekistan and other countries, forming a collaborative network to better support the Belt and Road Initiative.

During their visit to Urumqi International Land Port Area, the delegation examined the operations of China-Europe and China-Central Asia rail services, with particular focus on the multimodal transport network. They also conducted detailed discussions about logistics and transportation systems.

Later that day, the group toured the Yuejin Street South Community in Urumqi's Tianshan District. They observed community services, learned about residents' daily routines, and saw how local officials handle social services, job assistance, and neighborhood mediation. When they encountered children engaged in summer art activities, several delegation members joined the painting session. Valiev's artwork impressed everyone so much that the community presented him with a special gift, specifically an experience of traditional Chinese massage therapy.

On August 26, 2025, the delegation held talks with scholars at the Xinjiang Academy of Social Sciences, where both parties explored ways to maximize regional strengths and enhance collaboration by utilizing the complementary resources of Xinjiang and Uzbekistan. Experts from both sides agreed that future cooperation should focus on key areas including artificial intelligence, cross-border e-commerce, precision farming, and sustainable transport solutions.

Sanjar Valiev noted that through their visits to various modern enterprises, they had witnessed Xinjiang's remarkable technological innovations, which they believed could form excellent foundations for new partnerships.

Farkhod Tursunov, a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Foreign Policy Studies and Initiatives under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan remarked that Xinjiang's concentration of tech companies demonstrated its advanced development, adding that they were particularly interested in exploring collaborative opportunities in AI, high-tech applications, agricultural technology, and transportation systems.

During their August 27-28 visit to Kashi, the delegation conducted field inspections to comprehensively examine the region's accomplishments across cultural tourism, social welfare, economic development, medical services, and scientific research.

The delegation carefully studied Kashi's geographical advantages and foreign investment achievements at its Cross-border E-commerce Exhibition Center, where they observed the growth of specialized industrial clusters.

The Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital visit particularly impressed delegates with its unique therapies. After observing acupuncture and massage demonstrations and learning about specialized TCM preparations, they proposed enhancing medical cooperation through shared clinical knowledge and expanded herbal trade to benefit more communities.

In the ancient city of Kashi, the rhythmic hammering of copper artisans combined with melodic street performances to create an unforgettable cultural experience.

Amirkhon Musokhoniy, lead researcher at Institute of Foreign Policy Studies and Initiatives under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, reflected that their Xinjiang visit had provided valuable insights into regional development, and expressed anticipation for expanded China-Uzbekistan cooperation in the future.

On August 29, the delegation visited Xinjiang Museum and explored Silk Road artifacts that showcased Xinjiang's cultural heritage, which offered perfect closure to their journey.

Sanjar Valiev stated that they had gained significantly during their visit to China's Xinjiang, where they had toured numerous innovative technology companies and observed the region's dynamic technological advancement. He noted they had witnessed firsthand how technological progress was delivering profound improvements to people's lives, while also recognizing Xinjiang's promising economic development prospects.
