Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Cao Hua) news: According to the data query platform of the General Administration of Customs, from January to August this year, the export of Xinjiang's fruits grew rapidly. A total of 160,000 tons of various fruits were exported, with an export value of 1.95 billion yuan (about 273 million U.S. dollars), representing year-on-year increases of 28.5 percent and 38.8 percent, respectively.

In terms of export categories, from January to August, the the fruits exported from Xinjiang included 11 varieties, including walnuts, almonds, peaches, grapes, pears, and apples. Among them, walnuts had the highest export value, reaching 857 million yuan (about 120 million U.S. dollars), accounting for 44 percent of the total fruit export value. Grapes came second, with an export value of 370 million yuan (about 51.8 million U.S. dollars), accounting for 19 percent of the total fruit export value. Pears ranked third, with an export value of 265 million yuan (about 37.1 million U.S. dollars), accounting for 13.6 percent of the total fruit export value.

In terms of export markets, Xinjiang's fruits are mainly sold to Central Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, including countries such as Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and Malaysia. In addition, Xinjiang's raisins and red dates are also exported to markets like the United Kingdom, Russia, Germany, and Japan, with the export coverage continuing to expand.

In recent years, Xinjiang has been continuously promoting quality improvement and efficiency enhancement in its fruit and forestry industry, with fruit quality significantly improved and the marketable fruit rate stabilized at over 86 percent, thus laying a solid foundation for expanding exports. At present, Xinjiang has more than 300 registered orchards for export fruits, with its fruit exports covering over 30 countries and regions. In 2024, the export value of Xinjiang's fruits reached 2.9 billion yuan (about 406 million U.S. dollars). This year, Xinjiang is further enhancing its fruit export capacity, striving to exceed an annual export volume of 250,000 tons.
