Why do these foreign tourists like Xinjiang so much?

Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Abibai) news: On October 3, 2025, in the Turpan Grape Valley scenic area, an 80-year-old Australian tourist was immersed in the melodious Muqam music. Later, accompanied by tour guide Zulfiya Aimat, she set off for Urumqi City, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

She said that she also wanted to go to the Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar. She had heard that there were many intangible cultural heritage and creative products and she’d like to buy some to take back to Australia as gifts for her friends and relatives. Since she embarked on her journey to Xinjiang in September, the landscape and people here have made her reluctant to leave. The prosperity of the ancient city of Kashi has amazed her, the ancient wisdom of the Karez irrigation system has fascinated her, and the sweetness of Turpan grapes is refreshing. But more than that, the sincere smiles on the faces of people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang have made her feel the beauty and warmth of life.

On October 1, 2025, witnessing the colorful flags fluttering and the festive atmosphere all over Xinjiang, she was particularly excited and said Xinjiang is so wonderful. Not only is the scenery charming, but the people are also warm-hearted. She finally fulfilled her dream of coming here at the age of 80. She sincerely hoped that she could come again next year.

An archaeologist from Costa Rica was also captivated by Xinjiang. Since mid-September, he has led an archaeological tour group to conduct in-depth exploration in Turpan for more than ten days, visiting historical sites such as the Jiaohe Ancient City, the Thousand Buddha Caves, the Gaochang Ancient City, and the Sugong Pagoda. This journey has made every member of the group fall deeply in love with this land.

He sincerely praised that Xinjiang has a large number of historical sites that are very well preserved. He had been to many countries and seldom had he seen a place like Xinjiang—where ancient cities are so well-preserved and blend harmoniously with people's daily lives. It is worth learning from by countries all over the world. To his pleasant surprise, in addition to archaeological surveys, they also visited several scenic spots with beautiful landscapes, experienced the rich folk customs and tasted the special local food. He said that you can’t really understand the beauty of Xinjiang unless you experience it yourself and he hoped that more foreign tourists would come and see it.

On October 5, 2025, a tourist from Malaysia was completely mesmerized on the Narat Grassland, constantly taking photos to share with her family. She said that the scenery in Xinjiang was just too beautiful, the food was especially delicious, and the folk customs were unique. She added that it was especially meaningful to be present there on the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. During this trip, she also visited the Ghost City, Sayram Lake, and Kanas, among other places. All her fellow tourists couldn’t help but admire the magnificent landscapes and rapid development of Xinjiang. She mentioned that one visit was definitely not enough and that she had already booked another trip for next year. She wanted to travel through southern Xinjiang and deeply experience the great beauty of Xinjiang.
