Kalhanbek Humarhan was born in Burqin County of Altay Prefecture, NW China's Xinjiang, home to the Kanas scenic area.
After graduating from Xinjiang University, he first ran a small business in Urumqi to gain entrepreneurial experience.
As Xinjiang advanced rural revitalization and expanded tourism — encouraging young people to return home and start businesses — he went back to Burqin and opened a folk culture visiting spot by Kanas Lake, offering tourists a chance to experience the lifestyle of "the people on horseback."
Later, he founded "Muhun" agritourism farmstay in Burqin, offering local cuisine, specialty produce processing, intangible heritage study camp, and fishing ponds — drawing tourists and student groups from across the country.
Born into a herding family, Kalhanbek has a deep affection for the grassland life of his elders.
He collected everyday items used by herdsmen and created the "Time-Recording Museum" inside his agritourism farmstay, guiding visitors through "Grandpa's Home," "Dad's Home," "My Childhood," and "Our Modern Life," telling stories of changing times and helping people see the transformation of herders in Altay.
Today, many local young people are working with Kalhanbek to share Burqin's beautiful landscapes and rich culture with visitors from afar.
