Photh taken on November 26, 2025 shows 1,000 mu (67 hectares) of astragalus have a bumper harvest at the Taklimakan Desert sand prevention and control base of Langanboziya Farm in Yutian County, Hotan Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Harvesters shuttle back and forth while farmers follow close behind to dig up and sort the roots, creating a scene of bustling activity. In recent years, the farm has tackled the dual challenge of desert control and local income growth through the “forest-medicinal intercropping” model, simultaneously reinforcing the ecological security barrier on the edge of the Taklimakan Desert and cultivating a sustainable specialty industry.
