Alataw Pass tops China in handling most China-Europe freight trains in 2025

Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Chen Qiangwei) news: On January 5, 2026, Customs at Alataw Pass reported that by December 31, 2025, a total of 6,408 China-Europe freight trains had passed through the port under its supervision during the year. This makes Alataw the busiest port in China for China-Europe rail services.

The Customs has been actively implementing the "Smart Railway Port + Local Rapid Customs Clearance" model and the "port + hinterland" coordination model. These efforts have strengthened Alataw's role as the primary corridor for China-Europe freight trains and significantly improved clearance efficiency. In 2025, the port's overall customs clearance time was shortened by 18.4 percent, and the annual train volume surpassed the previous year's total one week before the year ended.

To build a more efficient cross-border transport service system, the Customs has also carried out ongoing reforms tailored to the port's operational realities. These reforms are designed to better serve businesses by addressing the "last-kilometer" of service needs. In 2025, the port set a new daily record with more than 30 freight trains passing through in a single day.

Hamit Samat, deputy director and a member of the Party Committee at Alataw Customs, said that customs authorities will continue to advance the "smart customs" initiative and streamline clearance procedures. These efforts aim to further enhance service efficiency and ensure the smooth, efficient operation of this key international logistics corridor.

Currently, 128 freight train routes operate through Alataw Pass, linking 21 countries and cities, including Germany and Poland. These trains carry more than 200 types of goods, such as auto parts, electronics, daily necessities, and cross-border e-commerce packages, all of which are high-value-added products.
