Xinjiang's regional political advisory body and legislature opened their annual meetings on January 26 and 27, respectively.

The once-in-a-year major political event, known as the regional "Two Sessions," sends the world a message of Xinjiang being an open and inclusive place. It has invited international friends, including foreign diplomats stationed in China, representatives from international organizations, journalists from Hong Kong, Macao, and overseas media stationed in China, and representatives of overseas Chinese, to participate. They came with curiosity and anticipation, and experienced the dynamic vitality of Xinjiang firsthand, adding a strong international touch to this event.

This is my second time in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the first time attending Xinjiang's two sessions. For me, it's very important to attend the "Two Sessions" here, because especially in south America I think more and more of our audience is interested in understanding the political system here in China. So one thing that we focus on our coverage here in China is the socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and it's very important to understand the role of the CPPCC and the role of the congress throughout the whole country.

This is my first visit to Urumqi for the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region's "Two Sessions." We have toured the exhibition celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. I was impressed by the city's development and livability—far from the remote border town I'd imagined. It's a vibrant metropolis, and I'd love to return.

Since 2009, I regularly came here in Xinjiang to visit our company. It's my first time here in this meeting. It is quite interesting to understand more about the Chinese politics, about the system, and how it's organized. And also for the future, the plans are very important to develop, because Xinjiang has a strategic role between the East and the West. I'm most interested in the international development and also for our logistics company, how we can serve in the future. We are in Europe and have a long history with international logistics. And in Xinjiang, it is an important connection first for transport via the Silk Road from Xinjiang to Europe. I have already been visiting Xinjiang for many years. In the last few years, it has become more and more open for international development and international trade. So, that's a good opportunity for the future.
