Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Cao Hua) news: The query platform for customs statistics of the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China shows that in 2025, Xinjiang's fruit exports reached 320,000 metric tons with an export value of 4.2 billion yuan (about 582 million U.S. dollars), marking year-on-year increases of 33 percent and 44 percent respectively, achieving growth in both volume and value.

In 2025, Xinjiang's exported fruit products covered 12 varieties. Among them, the export values of walnuts, grapes, pears, peaches, apples, and raisins all exceeded 100 million yuan (about 14 million U.S. dollars), collectively accounting for over 90% of the annual total export value. As the "main force" of exports, walnuts accounted for 54% of the export share with an export value of 2.3 billion yuan (about 331.5 million U.S. dollars), continuing to lead among all fruit categories. Grapes and pears followed closely with export values of 857 million yuan (about 120 million U.S. dollars) and 417 million yuan (about 58 million U.S. dollars) respectively, becoming representatives of fresh fruit exports. In terms of growth rates, almonds, grapes, and walnuts ranked the top three, with year-on-year increases as high as 594 percent, 71.4 percent, and 49 percent respectively, demonstrating strong market momentum. Meanwhile, apricots, cherries, and goji berries also successfully opened doors to overseas markets, further diversifying exports.

At present, Xinjiang's fruit exports have formed a multi-tiered and widely-covered export network. Central Asia, as the core market, sees an annual export value exceeding 2 billion yuan (about 280 million U.S. dollars), making it the top destination for Xinjiang's fruit exports. The Southeast Asian market, with its strong preference for grapes and fragrant pears, has become a key hub for fresh fruit exports. Middle Eastern countries, particularly fond of Xinjiang's walnuts, constitute a stable demand market. Additionally, fruit products such as raisins and red dates are being exported to countries including the UK, Russia, Germany, and Japan. The export scope has extended from neighboring regions to the global market, continuously enhancing brand influence.

In recent years, Xinjiang has actively expanded the overseas market sales of its forestry and fruit products by integrating resources such as ports, airports, and registered orchards. Leveraging diverse transportation modes including China-Europe freight trains, cold-chain special trains, and cargo charter flights, it has achieved 48-hour direct delivery outside Xinjiang for specialized trains carrying fresh plums and fragrant pears, among others. Meanwhile, Xinjiang has established forward warehouses and sales sub-warehouses in major domestic cities, set up over 20,000 external sales outlets, and utilized exhibition platforms such as the China Xinjiang Characteristic Forestry and Fruit Products Expo to drive the export of over 80 percent of its fruit products to both domestic and international markets annually.

In the future, Xinjiang's forestry and fruit industry will steadily advance toward the goal of "exporting premium fruits and spreading their fragrance globally." It will adhere to the development path of "adjusting the industrial structure, enhancing product quality, strengthening brand building, and extending the industrial chain," stepping onto a broader international stage with superior quality and a more diverse range of products.
