2026 (18th) Xinjiang Spring Festival Shopping Expo opens

Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Hei Hongwei) news: On January 31, 2026, the 2026 (18th) Xinjiang Spring Festival Shopping Expo (hereinafter referred to as the Expo) officially kicked off and will run until February 14.

This year's Expo is hosted by Urumqi Urban Construction Investment (Group) Co., Ltd. and organized by its subsidiary Xinjiang International Convention and Exhibition Co., Ltd. With the theme of "Shop for Spring Festival Goods, Experience the Festive Atmosphere, and Enjoy Reunion," the Expo has attracted over 400 enterprises to participate, bringing together nearly 10,000 types of Spring Festival goods, including local specialties from Xinjiang, renowned domestic products, and selected international commodities. The Expo aims to create a dual feast of Spring Festival consumption and culture that integrates purchasing, experiences, cultural activities, and entertainment, and it is open to the public free of charge throughout the event.

Urumqi resident Zhang Xiaoli pushed a cart with Spring Festival goods, her face beaming with a smile: "There is a complete range of products here, the prices are affordable, and there are even tastings available. It truly offers one-stop shopping."

A merchant from Uganda who was participating in the expo in Xinjiang for the first time, brought over a dozen products including African drums, leather bags, and honey. He said that he hoped to tap into the Xinjiang market through that expo and also looked forward to achieving good results at that year's China-Eurasia Expo.

Unlike previous editions, this year's Spring Festival Shopping Expo has broken away from the traditional exhibition-browsing model by innovatively integrating diverse business formats such as "exhibitions, shopping, entertainment, food, performances, tours, and learning." This allows the public to immerse themselves in an authentic festive atmosphere while purchasing Spring Festival goods. The venue not only features fun interactive treasure hunt activities where consumers can participate for free and redeem prizes such as electric kettles and practical household items, but also hosts a daily rotation of performances including street parades with traditional folk arts, Chinese-style stage shows, the finals of a senior model competition, and folk art performances. Additionally, professionals are on hand to teach citizens traditional skills such as paper-cutting, block printing, paper flower-making, and embroidery.
