"I think Xinjiang is one of the best landscapes in all of the country!" This is how Italian photographer Fabio, who has visited four times, described the region. From the snow-capped mountains of northern Xinjiang to the deserts of the south, his lens captures its "awe-inspiring beauty" and "diversity." Yet, it's not just the scenery that draws him back, the music in the ancient city of Kashi, the craftsmanship in the instrument village, and the folk paintings in the Dolan Painting Township have shown him how deeply culture is rooted in this land.
Fabio observed that most people, especially in the Western world, know China only through cities like Beijing and Shanghai. "They don't know that there is so much nature in China," he said. He advised photography enthusiasts to plan their distances carefully and choose the right season, as Xinjiang is so vast that every visit feels like opening a new blind box.
How would Fabio describe Xinjiang in three words? His choice: diverse, impressive, and deep. To him, the "impressiveness" comes from millennia of history, made even more remarkable by the fact that people still live vibrant lives here. So, when asked if he'll return, he doesn't hesitate: "Totally, hundred percent!"
