Over 36,000 travelers pass through Jeminay Port in Q1

Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Wang Qiming) news: In the first quarter of this year, the number of people entering and exiting through the Jeminay Port exceeded 36,000, a year-on-year increase of 134.9 percent. The volume of inbound and outbound transport vehicles reached over 5,000, up 48.2 percent from the same period last year. The highest daily passenger flow hit 1,100 people.

This impressive set of data from the Jeminay Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station under the Xinjiang Entry-Exit Border Inspection General Station reflects a positive development trend in cross-border trade and people-to-people exchanges at the port.

The Jeminay Port is located at the junction of China, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Mongolia, enjoying the unique geographical advantage of "connecting four countries through one checkpoint." It boasts a prime location and a mature, convenient customs clearance environment. As the nearest Chinese port to the northwestern tip of Kazakhstan, it has become one of the busiest gateways for cross-border travel between the two countries. The mutual visa-free policy between China and Kazakhstan has made spontaneous travel a reality, leading to a steady rise in cross-border trips for purposes such as tourism and visiting relatives and friends. As a result, the flow of inbound and outbound passengers continues to climb.

As a national first-class land port, Jeminay Port serves as one of China's key international trade gateways to Central Asia and Europe. Given the time sensitivity and strict preservation requirements of cold-chain goods such as fresh produce and fruits, the Jeminay Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station has launched a "green channel," implementing a mechanism of "inspection upon arrival and release upon clearance," along with facilitation measures such as "advance declaration, advance inspection, and appointment-based services" to ensure rapid customs clearance. At the same time, the station coordinates with joint inspection units such as customs and foreign trade enterprises to precisely match freight needs, making every effort to ensure the efficient and smooth clearance of cross-border goods. In the first two months of this year, the Jeminay Port exported over 4,100 tons of fruits and vegetables, an 888 percent year-on-year increase, marking explosive growth.

"In response to the continuous growth in passenger and vehicle traffic, we have optimized border inspection procedures and dynamically adjusted our police force deployment to ensure smooth and efficient clearance for travelers. To meet the needs of foreign trade enterprises, we have introduced measures such as appointment-based clearance and extended service hours to minimize the time goods spend at the port. Based on our operations so far, clearance efficiency has significantly improved, and both businesses and travelers have shown increasing satisfaction with our services," said Yao Lin, director of the Border Inspection Division at the Jeminay Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station.
