Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Song Weiguo, Correspondent Hu Can) news: On April 23, 2026, a convoy of heavy vehicles carrying wind turbine tower sections-each section over 30 meters long-departed from Dulata Port and headed for Uzbekistan via Kazakhstan. As these oversized and heavy-lift cargoes require stricter inspection procedures, the Dulata Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station opened a "green channel" for cross-border transport of large equipment to ensure smooth clearance.

According to statistics from the Dulata Border Inspection Station, as of April 21, the port had recorded over 48,000 passenger crossings this year, a year-on-year increase of 47.6 percent. The number of vehicles - including passenger coaches, trucks, and private cars-surpassed 31,000, up 40.8 percent from the same period last year. Both figures hit record highs for the period.

Situated in a major integrated development zone in the Ili Kazak Autonomous Prefecture, Dulata Port has seen steady growth in passenger and freight traffic. This has been driven by the expansion of its roadway system and the adoption of a modern dual-scan inspection process. The growing traffic is boosting local warehousing and logistics, helping transform the port from a transit corridor into a driver of industrial development. A strategic hub on the Silk Road Economic Belt, the port has carried out the immigration authorities’ reform measures to cut red tape and improve services. Special clearance features - such as a fast lane, appointment processing, and exemptions from stamping for registered staff - have made the port a stronger gateway for Xinjiang’s opening-up and for China’s westward links to Central Asia and Europe.

To further strengthen its fast-throughput advantage, the port has rolled out real-time clearance updates, two-way guidance for stranded vehicles, and dynamic peak-hour traffic management. It has also set up dedicated green lanes for trucks carrying hazardous goods or oversized equipment, improved its emergency lane system for border inspections, and introduced a one-stop “direct clearance” service for outbound freight and export vehicles. This ensures that all border inspection procedures for both drivers and vehicles are completed efficiently, keeping port traffic safe, smooth, and well-organized.

Zhang Huichao, head of the Second Duty Unit of the Dulata Border Inspection Station, said: "With the May Day holiday approaching and the peak season for cross-border tourism just around the corner, passenger and vehicle traffic will continue to rise. In response, the border inspection authorities will deploy police forces scientifically, anticipate peak periods in advance, optimize passenger clearance procedures, and go all out to ensure the safe and smooth passage of cross-border travelers and vehicles."
