InXinjiang(121)丨Why did Tianshan Shengli Tunnel move this young Briton

Amar Handley, a 22-year-old communist from London, has traveled extensively across Asia and made a special trip to Xinjiang, China, to see for himself what the Western media describes as an "oppressed" Xinjiang.

He strolled through the streets of Urumqi, chatting with local residents, including a barista and a police officer. What he witnessed was an utterly normal, thriving way of life — people live and work in peace and contentment, infrastructure is developing rapidly, and public welfare projects such as the Tianshan Shengli Tunnel and the high-speed rail network are built even if they are not profitable, simply to make travel more convenient for the people. Amar stated bluntly that the Western media's claims of "genocide" and "cultural genocide" are completely false propaganda. He pointed out that people in Xinjiang lead fulfilling, happy lives. Contrary to false Western claims, the region’s unique culture has been well-preserved, enriched and further diversified.

Amar believes that Western capitalism is in decline, and he is full of admiration and hope for China's socialist path. He noted that China is committed to peace and stability, and spearheads efforts to build a multi-polar world free of imperialist wars of aggression. For Westerners witnessing such efforts, he said, “it definitely gives you hope as a Westerner that the future's not all bad, it's not all dark.”
