Mexico-England kickoff delayed by severe weather

MEXICO CITY, July 5 (Xinhua) -- The World Cup round of 16 match between Mexico and England on Sunday was delayed by an hour due to severe weather.

Kickoff at Mexico City Stadium was rescheduled to 7 p.m. local time, officials said.

The decision followed heavy rain and lightning in Mexico City on Sunday afternoon.

"The safety and security of all individuals is FIFA's priority," world football's governing body said in a statement.
