Kashi cantaloupe makes first debut on Hong Kong market

Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Hei Hongwei) news: On July 21, 2026, with the strong backing of Kashi Customs through targeted assistance and efficient clearance procedures, 342 kilograms of premium Kashi cantaloupe were successfully shipped via cold-chain air freight from Urumqi Tianshan International Airport to Hong Kong and officially put on sale.

This marks the first time that cantaloupe grown in Kashi has reached the Hong Kong market.

Kashi's exceptional combination of sunlight, heat, water, and soil gives its cantaloupe a full, juicy, sweet flesh with rich aroma, giving the region a clear edge in fruit production. To help more local fruit products break into the Hong Kong market, Kashi Customs took proactive steps, offering tailored support to businesses. A dedicated work team was set up to provide end-to-end tracking and hands-on guidance, tackling each challenge one by one, from qualification registration and inspection to customs clearance, and creating an efficient export channel for Kashi's fruits.

Yang Xiaoyi, director of the Inspection Division at Kashi Customs, said that since many companies are new to exporting to Hong Kong and lack experience, the customs adopts a "one enterprise, one policy" approach. They provide early intervention and guidance to help firms complete registration for export orchards and packing facilities. They also share the latest inspection standards and customs policies for fresh fruits to Hong Kong, and guide companies throughout the entire process in standardized planting and proper stocking, ensuring that the exported produce meets all necessary quality and safety standards.

Given that fresh fruit has a short shelf life, is easily damaged, and cannot withstand delays, Kashi Customs has opened a green channel for agricultural and food product exports, offering one-on-one dedicated support from start to finish to ensure the fruit arrives fresh and in good condition for market launch.
