BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Strengthening the transparency, accuracy and reliability of greenhouse gas data is essential to support effective climate policy formulation and decision-making processes related to climate change, a senior Brunei government official has said.

Speaking at the opening of the 23rd Workshop on Greenhouse Gas Inventories in Asia on Tuesday, Haji Shaharuddin Khairul Haji Anuar, permanent secretary at the Ministry of Development, underscored the importance of maintaining high-quality greenhouse gas inventories to support national and regional climate action.

The event brings together government officials, technical experts and greenhouse gas inventory coordinators from several Asian countries to exchange experiences, share technical knowledge and discuss best practices in the preparation of greenhouse gas inventories.

The workshop aims to strengthen regional cooperation and enhance technical capacity in developing comprehensive greenhouse gas inventories, which play a key role in monitoring emissions and tracking climate commitments.
