HANOI, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's aquatic exports reached nearly 6.78 billion U.S. dollars in the first seven months of 2026, up 11.5 percent year on year, the Vietnam News Agency reported Wednesday, citing the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
Shrimp remained the leading aquatic export, generating nearly 2.78 billion dollars during the period, up 12.6 percent from a year earlier and accounting for about 41 percent of its total aquatic export turnover.
According to VASEP chairman Do Ngoc Tai, the export performance in the first seven months reflected the resilience and adaptability of Vietnamese enterprises, providing a foundation for the industry to achieve full-year export growth of 10 to 11 percent, with total export turnover projected at approximately 12.5 billion dollars.
To sustain growth in the coming years, the industry needs to address bottlenecks related to raw material supply, logistics, financing, labor and markets, he said.
