Turpan embraces high-tech grape-picking solutions

Robotic harvesters, robot dogs for inspection and transport, and drones for monitoring: a range of high-tech equipment has taken center stage in the vineyards of Turpan, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, powering the local grape industry with technological innovation. On August 23, 2026, the "Turpan Smart Grape Industry Brain" was officially launched for trial operation at the opening ceremony of the first Turpan Smart Grape Industry High-Quality Development Conference, co-hosted alongside the 32nd Silk Road Turpan Grape Festival. This launch marks a new chapter in the digital and intelligent development of Turpan's grape sector.

As part of the research and innovation section of the "Turpan Smart Grape Industry Brain," robot dogs, drones, and intelligent harvesting robots are now operating in a coordinated manner, continuously expanding their applications in areas, such as smart patrol and inspection of vineyards, and building a multi-dimensional system for smart farming operations.

The intelligent harvesting robot put into service this time is equipped with an adjustable lifting platform and a high-precision robotic arm, enabling precise cluster positioning and gentle, damage-free picking. According to technicians from Meinong Robot Co., Ltd., the robot can pick a bunch of grapes in just 10 seconds and run for up to 12 hours on a full charge.
