Kashi Aerospace Information Industrial Park unleashes new momentum for southern Xinjiang’s digital sector

Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Cao Hua) news: On August 30, 2026, at the Kashi Aerospace Information Industrial Park in Kashi City, northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, AI data annotators could be seen labeling images and video footage, their fingers flying across keyboards, transforming raw data and footage into training data recognizable by AI systems — a scene that indicates a practical drive to spur the real economy through data elements is taking root.

Launched in 2023 and spanning 2,237 mu (about 149.13 hectares), the Kashi Aerospace Information Industrial Park is a hub for technology-driven enterprises in southern Xinjiang. It is also home to the Guangzhou Data Exchange (Kashi) Service Base, which, as of now, has 81 member firms, listed 26 data products, and facilitated cumulative data transactions worth 139 million yuan (about 19.1 million U.S. dollars). These products cover a wide range of sectors, including geographic remote sensing, cultural tourism, agriculture, forestry and animal husbandry, and smart city solutions.

Meng Guanghong, Party Branch Secretary and Chairman of Xinjiang Aerospace Information Technology Co., Ltd., said that in the digital economy era, data is a key productive force. Meteorological data speeds up insurance claims in agricultural production, urban parking data helps enterprises develop convenient public facilities, and large medical models assist in rapid diagnoses, which makes data replaces unnecessary travel for the public.

"The data exchange's presence in Kashi provides a collaboration and exchange platform for data suppliers and users, energizing the local data market. This further strengthens and fills gaps in the digital industry chain in southern Xinjiang and boosts the development of the regional digital economy," Meng added.

The park has attracted 10 digital economy companies, with operations spanning satellite telemetry, tracking and command (TT&C), green computing power, data annotation, and data trading. Satellite ground stations are being established one after another, and aerospace information projects are progressing steadily. The data annotation industry is also growing rapidly, forming a development pattern featuring leading enterprises taking the lead plus multi-point support.

At the office of Haoli Data Technology (Xinjiang) Co., Ltd., 91 AI data annotators — recruited as the company's first cohort of university graduates and trained for their roles — are focused on their computer screens. Abudusalamu Aini, the company's general manager, explained that the firm, which settled in the park this year, has already secured data annotation contracts from several major Chinese internet and robotics companies. The company plans to expand its AI annotation team to 300 people this year and 500 within three years, with an annual output value exceeding 20 million yuan (about 2.97 million U.S. dollars). It also aims to explore data collection products and conduct data trading via the park's data exchange platform.

Leveraging the mature resources of the data exchange, the Kashi Aerospace Information Industrial Park is also exploring applications such as data property rights registration and data asset recognition in balance sheets across fields including manufacturing, credit, and transportation. It is building a security service system for data transactions to ease financing difficulties for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Meng Guanghong stated that the Kashi Prefecture in Xinjiang enjoys prominent geographical advantages. The park will continue to attract upstream and downstream enterprises in the aerospace information sector, improve the industrial ecosystem, unlock the value of data elements, and inject digital momentum into the development of smart manufacturing and new quality productive forces in southern Xinjiang.
