Booming rural tourism boosts local incomes in Kargilik County

Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Otkur Nijat) news: On August 29, 2026, Sayipjamal Siyit, the owner, was busy serving passing tourists at her distinctive plateau-style restaurant in Nurabati Village, Kekeya Township, Kargilik County, Kashi Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, located along National Highway G219. The restaurant was clean, tidy, and well maintained.

In recent years, Kargilik County has continuously advanced the upgrading and renovation of scenic areas, while improving supporting public services for culture and tourism. These efforts have strengthened the foundation for the development of holistic tourism, enhanced the provision of cultural and tourism services, and provided greater convenience and support for visitors, thereby promoting higher-quality and more efficient growth of the county's cultural and tourism sector.

By fostering rural tourism businesses, including agritainment establishments and various types of homestays, the county has effectively increased local residents' incomes and supported livelihood improvement. At present, Kargilik County is home to 34 agritainment businesses, which have collectively created employment opportunities for more than 800 people.
