For this episode of InXinjiang, Geoffrey William Thompson, a media professional from Luxembourg, shares his firsthand experience in Xinjiang, China. He visited Korla, Bosten Lake and the Tianshan Shengli Tunnel, witnessing how desert has been turned into farmland and how the wetland ecosystem continues to improve. He also visited schools, hospitals, communities and smart farms to experience local people's everyday lives. In his view, Xinjiang's multi-ethnic, multilingual cultural atmosphere reminded him of his home country, Luxembourg, while the rich social and recreational activities for seniors in local communities left a deep impression on him. From the ancient Silk Road to the Belt and Road, he traveled and compared along the way, offering a firsthand account of the real Xinjiang.
